It's been about a year since the last time I showed up at DW's door, drenched in rain à la Darcy and pledging my devotion most ardently... but, as you can see, I may have pulled an It's Not You, It's Me and ghosted. Whoops. I have, however, grown exponentially more tired of Tumblr and returned once again, this time to bang on some pots and pans and complain about my on-again off-again ex.
So, here's the Tl;DR1 of my Tumblr/fandom content rant:

So, here's the Tl;DR1 of my Tumblr/fandom content rant:
I miss Communities. I miss designated, moderated fandom spaces. Curated content. When Roswell, NM was airing last winter, it was exhausting to go into the tumblr-wide tag and wade through the wank, fearmongering, and ship wars.2 I know all those things existed in fandom spaces (like LJ and email lists) before3, but I feel like they belonged more to the realm of personal journals and/or specific communities? Not naked and on display for anyone and everyone just trying to take a casual stroll through a tag (might be a case of rosy retrospection?).
I do, however (and unfortunately), know the Tumblr (/Twitter, etc) dashboard format of instant content gratification, and the more casual posting atmosphere caters to my attention span more than the LJ/DW format.4
I don't know how it would work or even what it would look like exactly, but I would: Die For a site similar in posting nature to Tumblr, but with the option to filter your dashboard to show your Friends list/Following content and the content posted to the Communities you've joined.
Basically... I'm a Beggar, a Chooser, and a devoted Believer in having your cake and eating it too.5I do, however (and unfortunately), know the Tumblr (/Twitter, etc) dashboard format of instant content gratification, and the more casual posting atmosphere caters to my attention span more than the LJ/DW format.4
