a remedy for waiting

I'm not exactly sure of the plot for this, but the vibe I'm going for is Sweet Home Alabama/Hope Floats in a cottage country lake town. Instead of only one of them leaving and then coming back though, I feel like it would work better if they both left town separately and then due to unrelated (or related?) circumstances, end up moving home (temporarily?) within a few days of each other. I also can't decide if they were/are married like in Sweet Home or if their relationship was more tensiony / unresolved like in Hope Floats. Thoughts? I kinda want to write the fic but I can't narrow down any of my ideas haha.
